Delton Gerdes
Artist, Illustrator, Designer

I’m a native Texan—born in Houston, raised on Southern manners and Sunday sketches. In 1972, I graduated with a BA in Art from Southern Methodist University and launched a decades-long journey in visual storytelling. From 1981 to 2008, I ran my own design firm where I handled branding, logos, brochures, and marketing materials for businesses big and small. Even then, art was never just a job—it was part of everything I did.

For over 40 years, I’ve painted custom watercolors—pets, homes, weddings, football games, family vacations, and a little bit of everything in between. About five years ago, I made the decision to go full time with my art. These days, I stay busy with commissions for individuals and companies, as well as personal pieces that come from moments worth remembering.

This all started with a blue ribbon in sixth grade—Grand Prize in the Easter Art Contest at Alcott Elementary. That little push led me to summer lessons at the Museum of Fine Art in Houston, and later, private instruction with Mrs. Ethyl Crittenden in River Oaks. Since then, I’ve been grateful for every opportunity to keep learning and creating.

Along the way, my work has earned a few awards and been featured on posters, phone books, and children’s books. But the real reward is seeing how a painting can hold a memory, make someone smile, or bring a story to life.

I’ve lived in Katy, Texas since 1994 with my wife Nancy—my best friend for over 50 years. We’ve raised two wonderful children and love being grandparents to five energetic grandkids. We’re members of Southstone Church, and I give all credit for these gifts to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope the work here brings a bit of joy your way.
